A story to remember:
I worked with a young child in Head Start. The child was from a low income family and often did not have paper or supplies. Oddly, the child could read, and was one of the few children in the class that could. I asked the child how she learned to read. She stated that "her family could not afford cable, so they read every night". This story touched my heart, and it showed how dedication can overcome adversity.

ReplyDeletewhile, love your story really touch my heart. Reading every night is such a good thing I try to express to my second graders to try reading 15 min. every night.
ReplyDeleteThat story hits home for me because I always stress to the parents of my students that reading to your children is the best way for them to learn life lessons, learn their letter and numbers and also a great way to bond with them. So many parents do not talk to their children enough and that is essentially how kids learn through interaction. Thank you for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteYour story shows the importance of reading and how each child is able to succeed without the TV on every night. The media has become such a negative influence nowadays.
