My Own Capacity
My passion is to help children in poverty to overcome the barriers that hinder their education. As an educator, I have limited resources. However, I can find resources in the community to help with the advocacy effort. For example, I can solicit help from local businesses and from political leaders. I have also learned more about advocacy in this course. I plan to use this information to become a more effective advocate. First of all, I want to learn more about collaborating with others and working with policy makers. I have learned that it is important to search for local and national organizations that share the same goals. These organizations can provide me with resources to help me address poverty in education.

Collaborating with others is the only way to do good advocacy work. There are so many organizations that is willing to help educators and families in need. When we have the same goals we can accomplish so much more.
ReplyDeleteBuilding a strong team is always a great way to advocate. We all bring different strengths and resources to the issue and we can learn so much from each other. Making connections with those that have a heavy impact on the policies is also a necessary step. We must be able to influence the policies and practices or we will not be able to make changes.

I think that if we needed resources we would be able to contact agencies, organizations and other resources that have been made to be more accessible today then what they once were. Although families may struggle they too have make the initiative to consider applying to resources to better their current situation for the well being of themselves.
